Call for Papers

Dear FGI Members:

Our proposal for a session titled “Floating Covers for Potable Water” was accepted for the ASCE Geo-Frontiers 2011 Conference in Dallas, Texas on March 13-16, 2011 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. I hope a number of FGI Members will submit an abstract because I think this is an excellent application for fabricated geomembranes. I am sending you the Call for Papers (see below) before it is widely distributed so your abstract will be one of the first considered.

This is a Call for Papers for the technical session titled:

Floating Covers for Potable Water

at the ASCE Geo-Frontiers 2011 Conference in Dallas, Texas on March 13-16, 2011 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel.

In an effort to protect potable water from various environmental, community, and security risks, many entities and municipalities are covering their water reservoirs. This has created substantial innovation to cover these large and often oddly shaped water reservoirs. This creativity has lead to a number of different types of floating covers, construction techniques, and lining materials. This session will allow authors to present the latest advances in floating cover design, specification, installation, testing, performance, durability, and repair.

PLEASE submit your 200-300 word abstract and future submissions through the Geo-Frontiers 2011 website at:

http://www.geofrontiers11.com/Technical_Paper_Submission.cfm

The deadlines and schedule of events for this technical session are:

Abstracts due: 08 March 2010
Select Abstracts and Notify Authors: April 1, 2010
Receive Draft Papers for Review: June 1, 2010
Reviewed Papers Returned to Authors: August 1, 2010

Final Papers Due: September 1, 2010
Final Paper Acceptance Due: October 15, 2010

Please feel free to distribute this Call for Papers to anyone that you think might have an interest in the session. If you have any questions or need any additional information, please let me know. Thank you for your consideration and best regards.
