FGI conducts research on many topics for a variety of geomembrane types. The University of Illinois Civil and Environmental Engineering Department provides the laboratory support and technical expertise on a variety of subjects. Some of the research topics are listed below. FGI Members suggest research projects based upon needs they see in the practical experience of designing, specifying, fabricating and installing fabricated geomembranes.
